Award application deadlines approaching: MEUW enjoys recognizing member utilities, their employees and power promoters. Please submit your applications and nominations before the deadlines listed below.
- Safety Awards recognize steps member utilities are taking to improve their overall safety performance. We are now accepting applications for 2023 performance measures. Each utility is encouraged to take time to compile the necessary information and submit the application spreadsheet, which is available at MEUW.org/safetyawards. The deadline to submit the required documentation is Friday, March 1.
- MEUW Honors recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed to the success of public power in Wisconsin. Each award has criteria that should be achieved for a candidate to be considered, detailed here. There is no cost to nominate someone for the awards; just complete this short and simple nomination form. The deadline to submit nomination forms is Friday, March 29.
All awards will be presented at MEUW’s Annual Conference May 16 in Marshfield. Submit your applications and nominations today!
Truck for sale: Juneau Utilities is selling a 2001 Freightliner 50-foot Versalift bucket truck. The truck has 9,075 miles and has had annual inspections. Outside of normal cosmetic wear from the age of the truck, it is in great shape. The asking price is $50,000. Contact Nick Gahlman for additional information and photos.
Watt-Hour Metering Workshop registration underway: Through both classroom and hands-on training, MEUW’s annual metering workshop March 25-28 at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay will help participants of all skill levels gain valuable insights and useful technical training to keep their utilities’ meters operating properly. The workshop will include a review of the essentials of electric metering, combined with an in-depth discussion related to meter installation and troubleshooting. We will also discuss how solar installations and electric-vehicle chargers impact metering. Workshop attendees will benefit from networking and the chance to learn from one another, including opportunities to engage with vendors who offer metering equipment. You can attend all or part of the four-day workshop. Full details and registration info are here.
The MEUW Executive Committee held a regular meeting on February 7. The notes from the discussion are available here (member login required).
Register for the Foreman’s Roundtable: The people leading utility line crews face common challenges and often don’t have an opportunity to talk with others facing those same challenges. We are holding a Foreman’s Roundtable on Wednesday, March 6 in Mauston to enable electric utility foremen to share ideas, learn from one another, and develop leadership and communication skills, especially regarding safety. Registration information and meeting details are available here.

Membership Directory advertising available: As we did in 2023, MEUW is partnering with E&M Consulting, Inc. to produce an updated Membership Directory later in 2024. E&M has begun their outreach to utility suppliers and others who may have an interest in advertising in the new directory. These are legitimate sales requests made on behalf of MEUW. The publication (to be available both in print and online) will help advertisers reach a wide audience of industry stakeholders and municipal electric utility employees. Companies that may wish to advertise are encouraged to contact E&M at 1-800-572-0011 or advertising@eandmsales.com.
