Hands-on Cyber Security training registration deadline approaching: The Department of Energy is hosting a unique cyber security training event aimed at public power utilities. The event will be held Sept. 29 – Oct. 2, 2026, at the Liberty Eclipse Testbed Environment located on Plum Island, NY. The hands-on training will include a full-scale grid defense and operational training program designed to assist electric utilities in building resiliency and levering real world tactics, techniques, and procedures. Annual Accounting and Customer Service Seminar set for Sept. 23: This popular annual seminar brings together municipal electric utility staff to provide updates on regulatory and legislative issues that affect their utilities and provide best practices to improve their operations. MEUW’s Accounting & Customer Service Committee assists MEUW staff in putting together the day’s program to address timely topics and issues of importance to accounting, customer service, and utility billing personnel. Basics of Electric Rate Setting registration is now open: Remove the mystery and learn the fundamentals of electric rates setting. This class is for those new to the utility industry, or those who want to learn more about the different components and considerations involved in the process. Taught by a seasoned instructor, this course will cover the cost of service process, rates design and principles, and special rate provisions. Whether you’re a municipal utility employee or member of a governing body, don’t miss this chance to ensure you know this important utility concept. Make plans to attend a Member Roundtable this fall: MEUW has a long tradition of hosting member gatherings to exchange ideas and learn from one another about leading practices, operating challenges, and emerging issues affecting municipal electric utilities. This year, the get-togethers are being organized as roundtables in communities around the state that will begin at 9:00 a.m. and wrap up after lunch.

MEUW Associate Members are suppliers and service providers who have paid membership dues in support of those connections. The number of Associate Members continues to grow, with NextEra Energy joining just in the past two weeks, bringing our number to 150…and counting!
Our Associate Member year runs from Oct. 1 – Sept. 30 each year. Current Associate Members can expect to receive renewal information next month.
