Take part in the APPA utility salary survey:  MEUW members of all sizes are eligible to participate in this American Public Power Association annual survey, which features base pay information for 34 salaried positions and 26 hourly positions. APPA asks utilities to complete the survey by July 24. Each participating member utility will receive a complimentary copy of the full final report, which includes a breakdown of salaries by revenue and customer class and regional salary summaries. Are you Leading with Consistency? Enhance your leadership skills this summer by learning how to lead with consistency and understanding why consistency is essential to being an effective utility leader. The one-day class is being held on Wednesday, Aug. 5, in Mauston. Participants will take away practical ideas they can apply to become a consistent leader and learn how consistency can help to inspire people to work toward a common goal. MEUW’s Board of Directors held its Annual Business Meeting in Madison on May 14, in accordance with the association’s Bylaws. The draft minutes of the meeting are available here (member login is required).


Basics of Electric Rate Setting class scheduled for Sept. 22: Based on member feedback, we are offering a fundamentals-level course on electric rates setting for those new to the utility industry, or those who want to learn more about the different components and considerations involved in the process. Taught by a seasoned instructor, this course will cover the cost of service process, rates design and principles, and special rate provisions. Ensure you know this important utility concept – plan to join your peers for this class in Mauston on Sept. 22. Registration will open July 6.


Mark your calendar for September Accounting and Customer Service Seminar: This annual seminar brings together municipal electric utility staff to provide updates on regulatory and legislative issues that affect their utilities and provide best practices to improve their operations. MEUW’s Accounting & Customer Service Committee assists MEUW staff in putting together the day’s program to address timely topics and issues of importance to accounting, customer service, and utility billing personnel. This one-day seminar will be held in Mauston on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Registration will open July 6.



Member Roundtables coming to a community near you: MEUW has a long tradition of hosting member gatherings to exchange ideas and learn from one another about leading practices, operating challenges, and emerging issues affecting municipal electric utilities. This year, the get-togethers are being organized as roundtables that will begin at 9:00 a.m. and wrap up after lunch. More details will be shared as the dates get closer.

In the meantime, mark your calendar and plan to join us for one that works for you. There is no cost to attend, and lunch will be provided. Roundtable dates and locations are:
