MEUW Weekly :: June 23, 2020

PSC staff to answer questions about disconnects, late-payment fees: MEUW is hosting a special question-and-answer teleconference for all members early next month. The purpose of the call is to get answers and information directly from staff at the Public Service Commission (PSC) about regulatory rules being reinstated after they’d been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. The call is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, at 10:00 a.m. Call-in details and other logistics will be provided as the date nears.

The PSC staff will also provide instructions about the process utilities should use to file their disconnect plans. As a reminder, the three-person PSC on June 11 unanimously approved a timeline for utilities to begin disconnecting electric service for nonpayment (with required customer notification) as of July 25. The Commission Order in this docket is anticipated later this month. MEUW will provide an update soon after the final order is received.

Deadline for 2020 Wage & Benefits Survey is next week:  We are now collecting data for the association’s annual Wage & Benefits Survey. Each utility has received instructions to complete the online survey tool, which is due by June 30. A list of utilities that have responded to this year’s survey is being updated here. Only the utilities that provide information for the survey will receive a copy of the results when they are distributed later this summer.

New positions have recently been added to the “Jobs in Municipal Utilities” page on MEUW’s Website – check them out here. When your utility has an opening, remember to email the details to office@meuw.org so we can add them to the jobs listing.

Start spreading the news: We’d like to share your utility’s news with other MEUW members. Please take time to let us know about new hires, promotions, retirements, honors and awards. Simply send an email to news@meuw.org. We will review and include it in our member communications.
