MEUW Weekly :: Nov. 17, 2020

There’s still time to register for Thursday’s Customer Service Roundtable:  MEUW is hosting an online forum to provide municipal customer service employees an opportunity to compare notes and exchange ideas with one another. The session will be held as a Zoom conference on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 10:00 a.m. There is no charge to participate, however, pre-registration is required. Visit MEUW.org for details.

Ropes and Rigging Safety Training cancelled: In response to ongoing concerns about the spread of coronavirus, MEUW has decided to cancel the Ropes and Rigging Safety Training that was planned for Dec. 1 in Fennimore. We will explore options to reschedule the session after the new year.

Upcoming all-member teleconference to focus on pandemic response: As attention is refocused on helping to stop the spread of COVID-19, MEUW is planning to host a one-hour “Coronavirus Call-in” on Monday, Dec. 7, at 1:00 p.m. The goal of the teleconference is for MEUW members to exchange information, ask questions, and openly discuss the latest developments in the pandemic response. To make the most of the discussion, please submit your specific topics or questions in advance by emailing them to info@meuw.org. Additional details about the teleconference, including the call-in number, will be shared closer to the date.

Registration now open for one-day Transformer Workshops: In an effort to maximize cold-weather days for in-person training, MEUW has arranged for a series of one-day workshops on the fundamentals of single-phase transformers during the week of Jan. 18, 2021. MEUW’s Randy Larson will lead the session. An overview of the topics to be covered is available here

The workshop will be held in four locations across the state with the goal of allowing utility crews to attend a session at a site nearer them to avoid an overnight hotel stay. Each session will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude by 2:30 p.m. Training will take place in the shop at each utility, and an extended lunch break will be on your own in order to safeguard against the spread of the virus.

The cost to attend is $25 per person, and the number of attendees will be limited to support social-distancing guidelines. Click on the date/location below to complete the online registration process at MEUW’s website.

Happy Thanksgiving: Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we will not distribute the Weekly on Nov. 24.

All of us at MEUW are grateful for your continuing support as we work toward our mission to unify and strengthen Wisconsin’s community-owned utilities. We send best wishes to you and your family for a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday – in whatever form it takes this year.
