Electric Operations Conference & Expo is just six weeks away: Registration is now open for our biggest event of the year. The Electric Operations Conference & Expo, a joint effort of MEUW and Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association (WECA), in partnership with the Wisconsin Utility Suppliers Association, is set for Jan. 11-13 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. The program is full of highly informative presentations, dynamic speakers, and a large trade show on Thursday, Jan. 12, featuring utility suppliers showcasing the latest products and services. The “Early Bird” discount ends Dec. 15. Full details are available at meuw.org/eoce.
Join your public power colleagues in the nation’s capital: Make plans to attend the 2023 American Public Power Association (APPA) Legislative Rally taking place Feb. 27 to March 1, in Washington, D.C. The annual rally is crucial to ensuring that U.S. Senators and Congressional members hear the voices and concerns of MEUW municipal utility members and our communities. Wisconsin is traditionally well represented at the rally, enabling our members to help influence policy and to represent the public power community as a whole. Additional information and registration details are available on APPA’s Website. If you’ve never attended and are interested in learning more about the 2023 event, please call MEUW Director of Legislative and Regulatory Relations Tyler Vorpagel at (920) 265-7720.
Appointments to MEUW Board of Directors: MEUW Board Chair Rick Wicklund has appointed Barry Sorenson of Waterloo as District 10 Alternate Director, succeeding Dale Lythjohan of Cedarburg, who is retiring. Additionally, Brian Carroll of Gresham has been appointed At-Large Director for a term expiring at the MEUW Annual Meeting in May 2023. Brian replaces Scott Adler, who recently accepted a role with Stoughton Utilities, which is already represented on the MEUW Board by Jill Weiss as District 9 Director. Per the MEUW Bylaws, no member utility may have more than one representative on the Board of Directors. With Brian vacating the District 3 Alternate Director seat to become an At-Large Director, Jason Bessette of New London has been appointed to backfill. The appointments are subject to approval by the full Board, which is expected in December.
Korrie Krause, wife of Dave Krause, P.E. of EPS Engineering & Design, Inc. (formerly Krause Power Engineering), passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 25. The obituary can be found here.
