You can still get in on the Work Order and Asset Management Accounting Workshop: The first of three Zoom sessions for MEUW’s Work Order and Asset Management Accounting Workshop took place on Tuesday morning, Oct. 20. The session was recorded and is available for playback to anyone who purchases a registration for the three-part workshop. Even if you missed the first session, you can catch up and be ready to learn for the remaining online classes planned for Oct. 27 and Nov. 3. The cost is $175 per person. If you’re interested, please contact Mallory Conradt at (608) 469-6009 and she can process your registration and provide the necessary login credentials.

The Executive Committee of MEUW’s Board of Directors held its regular every-other-month meeting via a Zoom conference on Oct. 7. Notes from their discussions are here.

How did you celebrate Public Power Week? We’re planning to include a wrap up of members’ Public Power Week activities in the next edition of Live Lines. Utilities are encouraged to share details about how they marked the occasion and provide any photos by sending an email to news@meuw.org by Friday, Oct. 23.

Sign up for Ropes and Rigging Safety Training: MEUW is holding a safety workshop focused on the fundamentals of overhead rigging and knot-tying and the use of knots, ropes, blocks and tackle in the performance of line work. The one-day session will include classroom and hands-on training and take place at Fennimore Electric Utility on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Training will be conducted to conform with personal-hygiene and social-distancing guidelines associated with COVID-19, including a cap on the number of attendees. Click here for registration info.

Latest installments of “Electric Wire” podcasts now online: The Customers First! Coalition (CFC) has released more episodes of its podcast series to help advance dialogue and education about energy issues across the state. The “Electric Wire” first launched in mid-February and features interviews with guests from the Wisconsin energy and utility industry discussing the topics like solar, electric vehicles, energy storage, microgrids, wind and smart buildings.

The two most recent episodes — made available on Aug. 26 and Oct. 2 — focus on energy storage and green buildings, respectively. To access the podcast episodes, search for The Electric Wire wherever you subscribe to podcasts, or listen at CFC’s YouTube channel. You can follow @theelectricwire on Twitter to get notifications of new episodes, pictures and other information about the podcast series.

MEUW is a founding member of CFC, which was first organized in 1995 to advocate on behalf of Wisconsin consumers in the debate over electric-utility restructuring.
