MEUW Weekly :: Oct. 29, 2019

Gresham “Meet & Eat” dinner moved to new location: The “Meet & Eat” scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 31, in Gresham will instead be held in Shawano at the Seasons Restaurant and Lounge. The change was necessary because the Woodlands Supper Club in Gresham was forced to close on Thursday evenings due to recent staff turnover. Registration for the dinner (now in Shawano) is open through Tuesday, Oct. 29.

MEUW’s annual member get-togethers are a great opportunity to visit with your public power colleagues, enjoy a meal and get some updates on what’s happening with MEUW. The complete schedule and registration information for the remaining Meet & Eat sessions is available on MEUW’s Website.

One last chance to share your Public Power Week traditions: We know that many utilities celebrate Public Power Week with their community and customers in many different ways. We’d like to include highlights of this year’s celebrations in an upcoming edition of Live Lines. Please share photos and details by sending an email to news@meuw.org.

Additional date added for chainsaw and tree trimming workshop: MEUW is conducting a one-day workshop focusing on the maintenance and safe operation of chainsaws as well the basics of safe tree trimming. Thanks to a great deal of interest from MEUW members, the training will now be offered on an additional date. Those who are interested can choose to attend the daylong training on either Tuesday, Dec. 3 or Wednesday, Dec. 4. The training will be held at the Wisconsin Rapids Water Works and Lighting Commission facility, and will offer hands-on opportunities to learn from certified experts. Cost is $225 per person. Space is limited to first 25 registrants, though a wait-list will be available. To learn more, click here.

Save the Date: The Customers First! Coalition will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Madison Concourse Hotel. MEUW is a founding member of the CFC, and all members are welcome to attend. Additional details will be available soon.

Registration for Electric Operations Conference and Expo opens next week: You may have heard that the annual “Joint Sups” conference put on by MEUW and the co-op association is taking a new name for 2020. The “Electric Operations Conference and Expo” is open to everyone, and will be held in Wisconsin Dells, beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020. Online registration is scheduled to open next week, so watch for more information.

This year’s Apprentice Graduation Banquet will take place on Wednesday evening, Jan. 15. A separate registration is required to attend the banquet, and that is also expected to open next week. Full details are available on MEUW.org.

Make the most of that extra hour this weekend: Daylight Saving Time officially comes to an end at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, so remember to set your clocks back one hour.
