Sign up now for upcoming Management Training Program: Utility Planning and Risk Management is the subject of the next session in MEUW’s Management Training Program – scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 16, in Marshfield.
The day-long session will provide attendees with insights into processes for effective strategic and project planning. Participants will takeaway practical information about complying with Wisconsin’s construction-project bidding laws and leading practices for developing Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
MEUW’s Management Training Program provides education for current managers, mid-level managers and future management prospects. Participants may start at any point in the six-session (A-F) program. Join us to “Meet & Eat” this fall: Thanks to member feedback that get-togethers during the daytime may be better for some, MEUW’s traditional “District Dinner” gatherings have a new name this year. The first two “Meet & Eat” sessions coincide with Public Power Week and are coming up soon.

* Dinnertime events begin with a cash bar at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30, followed by a brief program. The cost will be approximately $20 to $25 per person, depending upon location, menu and final number of attendees. MEUW will bill the utility for the dinner after each event take place.

Public Power Week is Oct. 6 to 12: We encourage all member utilities to use Public Power Week to remind your customers that they are part of something special. MEUW has prepared a sample news release you can make available to your local newspaper and radio stations. You can find it here, along with a link to other resources available from APPA.
MEUW to host Cybersecurity Summit: October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and MEUW is hosting a one-day workshop to help utility managers and governing board members understand more about the risks associated with cyberattacks. Led by an expert with more than 30 years of experience in communications and cyber security in the utility and telecommunications markets, the session will provide the foundational knowledge necessary to help utilities develop a comprehensive cyber-related risk-management program based on real-world examples and utility case studies. The Summit is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Additional details and information about registration are available here.
Chainsaw safety and tree-trimming basics are focus of December workshop: Tuesday, Dec. 3, is the date of a one-day workshop focusing on the maintenance and safe operation of chainsaws as well the basics of safe tree trimming. The training will be held at the Wisconsin Rapids Water Works and Lighting Commission facility, and will offer hands-on opportunities to learn from certified experts. Cost is $225 per person, and space is limited to first 25 registrants. To learn more, click here.
