MEUW Weekly :: Dec. 18, 2018

MEUW establishes new scholarship fund: MEUW is creating a new “Powering Futures” Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing careers in electrical power distribution.

The scholarship fund is being established in conjunction with MEUW’s 90th anniversary through an initial donation of $25,000. The scholarship benefits qualified students who live in one of Wisconsin’s public power communities.

The scholarship is set up as an endowment with Incourage Community Foundation based in Wisconsin Rapids. As an endowed fund, MEUW’s Powering Futures Scholarship will live on in perpetuity, awarding its annual earnings to support students pursuing a career as a Field Service Technician, Groundman, Lineman Apprentice, Electric Meter Technician, Substation Electrician Apprentice or Utility Technician.

Incourage Community Foundation will administer the scholarships. The recipients of the first Powering Futures scholarships are expected to be recognized at MEUW’s 90th Annual Conference to be held in Lake Delavan in May.

Please visit MEUW’s Website for application instructions and additional details.

  1. Great Letter, Paul! Many Thanks to Tim and ALL the MEUW Staff for all you do for our utilities. Thanks, also, for getting MEUW back “in gear” and running fine. We have a great future to look forward to, sharing our challenges and our accomplishments. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from City Utilities of Richland Center.
